St. Petersburg, FL - The Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL) has honored Jessica Ehrlich, democratic candidate for U.S. Congress (FL-13), as a 2013 Leader in the Law. The award recognizes Ehrlich’s leadership and commitment to the Pinellas community.

““Jessica Ehrlich epitomizes a Leader in the Law, as she is a bright, dynamic young woman who is committed to bringing equality and a fresh perspective to our community. Unfortunately, too many decisions are still being made without women at the table. That’s why we’re honoring Jessica, one of Florida’s next leaders, because we want more talented young women to follow her example,” said Brittany Maxey, 2013-2014 FAWL President, Past President of the Pinellas County Chapter of FAWL.

“I am honored and humbled to be named a Leader in the Law by the Florida Association of Women Lawyers. This organization has been an irreplaceable source of guidance and support for me. And it is especially touching to receive this award because I know how much I owe the generations of women who blazed the trail for me, and I am proud to carry on their tradition of leadership,” Ehrlich said.

Established in 2010, FAWL’s Leader in the Law award honors those attorneys who have improved their communities through their legal work and volunteerism, and who serve as role models for FAWL members. This year, 28 women attorneys were selected from across the state for the distinction. The award was presented at FAWL’s Annual Meeting.

FAWL was founded in 1951 to promote gender equality and leadership in the law and in the community at large. Ehrlich has been an active member of the Florida Association of Women lawyers for several years.
