St. Petersburg, FL – The Women’s Campaign Fund (WCF) has endorsed Jessica Ehrlich, Democrat for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. The endorsement cites Ehrlich’s staunch support for women’s health issues and calls out her opponent, Congressman Bill Young, for opposing women’s issues throughout his career.

“In his over 40 years in Congress, Congressman Bill Young has made a career out of undermining women’s health, culminating in a starring role in last year’s War on Women,” said Siobhan Bennett, President/CEO of the Women’s Campaign Fund. “It’s time for new leadership in Washington which is why we are proud to stand with Jessica Ehrlich. Her perspective and experience are sorely needed and we look forward to seeing her represent Florida’s 13th district.”

“I am proud to receive the Women’s Campaign Fund endorsement. This year we have seen again and again why it is so important to elect pro-choice women to office, at all levels of government. Pinellas families aren’t interested in Congressman Young’s extreme politics, like voting to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, co-sponsoring Todd Akin’s bill to stop Medicaid from helping women unless they proved they were ‘forcibly’ raped, or voting against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. They want someone who will stand up and fight for them - everyone, regardless of gender,” said Ehrlich.

The Women’s Campaign Fund is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to electing women to office who support reproductive health choices. Ehrlich is one of six federal candidates that WCF has endorsed for the 2014 election.
